Communication and Accountability

Cobourg Waterfront
Communication and Accountability
- Continue to implement the Town’s Official Plan with public input
- Establish a business plan based on specific goals that are clearly communicated to the taxpayers and placed on The Town of Cobourg’s website
- Balance the community’s wants and needs to ensure that our tax assessments are reflective of our economic climate
- Establish quarterly open public sessions where citizens can have concerns addressed. Councillors would be accountable for their respective portfolios.
- Continue to attract new businesses and industries under the direction of an Economic Development Officer to enhance our employment opportunities and tax base
- Maintain our infrastructure to meet present and future development needs as highlighted in Northumberland County’s Growth Management Strategy Report
- Support heritage and cultural events which are vital to our historical community

Cobourg Waterfront
- Adopt Northumberland County’s cycling master plan and monitor its implementation
- Have an annual public review of Victoria Park, the Cobourg waterfront and the marina on how best to meet our community needs
- Promote the development of the Cobourg Waterfront Boardwalk and to negotiate in good faith with private landholders
- Continue to promote and enhance the “community-based policing model”
- Promote the sharing of resources such as police training, communications and technology with other police services
- Strive towards amalgamation with the creation of a West Northumberland Police Service
